Questions:

20. What is your biggest challenge when it comes to evaluating students?

Biggest challenge that is faced when evaluating students is providing immediate feedback as well as ample time to ensure that all students receive an opportunity to perform proficiently.

21. Why is assessment important?

Assessment is an important tool that I use to guide my instruction.  It provides needed information on whether or not a concept has been mastered or if a reteach is needed.

22. How often do you assess your students? How does the frequency of classroom

assessments improve student achievement?

I try to assess my students at the end of a lesson/concept.  Usually about a week.  Student achievement improves because students already know what and when to expect their assessments.

23. What type of assessments do you prefer and why?

I use varied types, whether it be paper based, using multiple-intelligence, etc.  Gives me a chance to see students’ understanding at different angles.

24. Do you provide a rubric for each activity/assignment that your students do? Why or why not?

I provide students with a rubric when it comes to projects so that it is clear what the expectations are and how each student can achieve it.  As far as each activity/assignment, it would really depend.

25. Do you make modifications in your teaching after assessing your students? If so, what

strategies do you generally use to modify your teaching?

Modifications of lessons are in place if need be.  We tie in real-life scenarios or discuss as a class what the confusion is in the lesson and work from there.

26. What challenges do you face when assessing students who have different learning styles?

Because all students learn a different way, I am faced with being able to provide the same quality of assessment…as it may be a bit tricky when it comes to being fair.

27. Do you assess students authentically or on the pencil and paper method?

The types of assessment I use are both authentic and pencil-paper based.

28. Do you pick and choose which assignments to add to the  grade book? Or do you put

everything in the grade book? Why/Why not?

Most of the assignments are added into the grade book.  As it shows growth or decline in student understanding.

29. How do students receive feedback?

Students receive feedback through written comments or class meetings/discussions

30. What are the diagnostic assessments that your school has/use? Summative?

Diagnostic assessments that our school uses:  Basic Reading Inventory (BRI), STAR Reading/Math, Teacher-Made Inventory/Pre-tests

Self Reflection

1.)    What did you want the class to learn from your teachback presenation?

a.       My partner and I wanted our students to learn that we as future teacher in training needs to know what assessment is all about.

2.)    How did you assess what they learned?

a.       My partner and I assess the students learning by doing a continuum voting.

3.)    I am proudest of these components of my teach back presentation: (Please Explain Why)

a.       Because we KISS it! What I meant was my partner and I KEEP IT SHORT & SIMPLE. And we not only want are students to learn but also learn while having fun.

4.)    I can improve my teach in the following ways: (Explain why you felt these are areas that needed to be improved)

a.       Well in my part. I guess my delivery of the content is good. I can say that I should improve more and the knowledge. For it will help my students better understand on what the book is talking about.

5.)    Ideas to contemplate?

a.       Maybe the change of our assessment. With continuum voting we may probably do it individually.

6.)    Why was it important to study this chapter?

a.       It is important to study this chapter to better understand the main general topics of what assessment is.

Smart Board

The Smart Board is an interactive whiteboard that uses touch detection for user input – e.g. scrolling, right mouse-click – in the same way normal PC input devices, such as a mouse or keyboard, detect input. A projector is used to display a computer's video output on the interactive whiteboard, which then acts as a large touch screen. The Smart Board interactive whiteboard typically comes with four pens, which use digital ink and replace traditional whiteboard markers.

As for activities for the smart board, you can find a lot of activities online. For example, with math, teacher can show students manipulative on the smart boards. Even a student can go up and show the teacher how solve for an answer.

What Consist of A Professional Portfolio?

Before we can go any further with what consists on a professional portfolio, I would want to let you know that there are 3 different types of portfolio, course portfolio, professional portfolio, and teaching portfolio. Under the teaching portfolio, there is a summative portfolio and formative portfolio. Summative portfolio is created for academic job or for promotion and tenure within a department. Then a formative portfolio's purpose is for personal and professional development. Since we are teachers in training, let us look in depth into the teaching portfolio.

                Teaching portfolio is a way to collect evidence of you teaching ability. Furthermore, it provides the reader with a context for you teaching, it is focused on QUALITY, not QUANTITY, and it allows for SELF-REFLECTION.                

                Now what should consist in a Professional Portfolio? Well documents that are often in a professional portfolio are:

1.       Statement of teaching philosophy,

2.       Description of teaching experience (responsibilities),

3.       Course planning artifacts: sample course syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, exams,

4.       Evidence of teaching effectiveness: summary of student feedback, department evaluations,

5.       Teaching awards and recognition,

6.       Professional development efforts.

ENFJs are the benevolent 'pedagogues' of humanity. They have tremendous charisma by which many are drawn into their nurturant tutelage and/or grand schemes. Many ENFJs have tremendous power to manipulate others with their phenomenal interpersonal skills and unique salesmanship. But it's usually not meant as manipulation -- ENFJs generally believe in their dreams, and see themselves as helpers and enablers, which they usually are.

ENFJs are global learners. They see the big picture. The ENFJs focus is expansive. Some can juggle an amazing number of responsibilities or projects simultaneously. Many ENFJs have tremendous entrepreneurial ability.

ENFJs are, by definition, Js, with whom we associate organization and decisiveness. But they don't resemble the SJs or even the NTJs in organization of the environment nor occasional recalcitrance. ENFJs are organized in the arena of interpersonal affairs. Their offices may or may not be cluttered, but their conclusions (reached through feelings) about people and motives are drawn much more quickly and are more resilient than those of their NFP counterparts.

ENFJs know and appreciate people. Like most NFs, (and Feelers in general), they are apt to neglect themselves and their own needs for the needs of others. They have thinner psychological boundaries than most, and are at risk for being hurt or even abused by less sensitive people. ENFJs often take on more of the burdens of others than they can bear.

TRADEMARK: "The first shall be last"

This refers to the open-door policy of ENFJs. One ENFJ colleague always welcomes me into his office regardless of his own circumstances. If another person comes to the door, he allows them to interrupt our conversation with their need. While discussing that need, the phone rings and he stops to answer it. Others drop in with a 'quick question.' I finally get up, go to my office and use the call waiting feature on the telephone. When he hangs up, I have his undivided attention!

Functional Analysis:

Extraverted Feeling

Extraverted Feeling rules the ENFJ's psyche. In the sway of this rational function, these folks are predisposed to closure in matters pertaining to people, and especially on behalf of their beloved. As extraverts, their contacts are wide ranging. Face-to-face relationships are intense, personable and warm, though they may be so infrequently achieved that intimate friendships are rare.

Introverted iNtuition

Like their INFJ cousins, ENFJs are blessed through introverted intuition with clarity of perception in the inner, unconscious world. Dominant Feeling prefers to find the silver lining in even the most beggarly perceptions of those in their expanding circle of friends and, of course, in themselves. In less balanced individuals, such mitigation of the unseemly eventually undermines the ENFJ's integrity and frequently their good name. In healthier individuals, deft use of this awareness of the inner needs and desires of others enables this astute type to win friends, influence people, and avoid compromising entanglements.

The dynamic nature of their intuition moves ENFJs from one project to another with the assurance that the next one will be perfect, or much more nearly so than the last. ENFJs are continually looking for newer and better solutions to benefit their extensive family, staff, or organization.

Extraverted Sensing

Sensing is extraverted. ENFJs can manage details, particularly those necessary to implement the prevailing vision. These data have, however, a magical flexible quality. Something to be bought can be had for a song; the same something is invaluable when it's time to sell. (We are not certain, but we suspect that such is the influence of the primary function.) This wavering of sensory perception is made possible by the weaker and less mature status with which the tertiary is endowed.

Introverted Thinking

Introverted Thinking is least apparent and most enigmatic in this type. In fact, it often appears only when summoned by Feeling. At times only in jest, but in earnest if need be, Thinking entertains as logical only those conclusions which support Feeling's values. Other scenarios can be shown invalid or at best significantly inferior. Such "Thinking in the service of Feeling" has the appearance of logic, but somehow it never quite adds up.

Introverted Thinking is frequently the focus of the spiritual quest of ENFJs. David's lengthiest psalm, 119, pays it homage. "Law," "precept," "commandment," "statute:" these essences of inner thinking are the mysteries of Deity for which this great Feeler's soul searched.

My Evaluation
From The Personality Test Results

                According to my results that this personality test had given me is true! I Agree with all the answers! Especially with the story about "The first shall be last" section. Why did I agree to this? Because the story fits me just well! I mean I have a lot of patients and I would label priorities. Meaning I would let them take my turn depending if it is an emergency or they need an answer right away. For example, during our last class, I wanted to talk to the teacher, so I got her attention and I started the conversation. But after 3 seconds of starting a conversation, a student also wanted to talk to her, so the student said a word and got the teachers attention, but the student realized that she actually cut us off. But I told her "No its okay you can go first." So yea I can really relate with this story.

                On another note, its pretty cool how I get to see famous ENFJs! Now I was wondering, am I going to be the next president of the United States? Because I see famous ENFJs like, Abraham Lincoln, Ronald Reagan, and our current president, Barack Obama! Very interesting yeah?
